Port Maraisa

Port Maraisa Map.jpg

Port Maraisa is a large town a day’s ride south-east of Riatavin, on the northern branch of the River Ith. Though it serves as a trade hub, Port Maraisa is an independent city serving many different parties.

The Hesse have an [[Session 01#^hesse-trade-network|extensive trade presence]] here.

Port Maraisa is essentially at the end of the navigable portion of the northern fork of the Ith River, making it a major trade port. This town is entirely focused on moving trade between land caravans to the north and the Ith to the south and west.

Neighborhoods

  • Halfling quarter - Commonly (and somewhat derisively) also called “The Warrens”, the halfling quarter is the eastern neighborhood of Port Maraisa. The sense of community in the halfling quarter is stronger than elsewhere in town. Street vendors in this part of town also have the best breakfast sausage for miles, but buy two: they’re small. ^halfling-quarter
  • Merchant quarter - The merchant quarter is the western neighborhood of Port Maraisa. This neighborhood is primarily populated by wealthier humans. The Night market and Gold Coin inn are located here. ^merchant-quarter
  • Docks - The docks are the northern neighborhood of Port Maraisa. This is where port laborers live and the River Guild guildhall are located. ^docks
  • Wine district - The Wine district is northeast of the city core and a center of wine trade for the port. ^wine-district
