Bikke Alder
Bikke was recruited by Armitage del Veign even though he wasn’t part of Sling.
He’s 17 years old, human, not overly muscular but strong, you could call him wiry.
He’s a follower of [[Waukeen]], and a talented swordsman.
Introduction
- born in Eshpurta, third son of shift boss at a local quarry, essentially blue collar family, mother is from Tethyr, learned her language, learned halfling from his fathers crew, although he calls them prairie dwarves
- hates quarrying
- at 14 his father got him an apprenticeship with a local horse shoe maker but lacked the wit and discipline to excel as a smith, wasn’t “into it”
- also had some extra-curricular activities, most notably working as a bar back in a seedy underground card room, basically a hive of scum and villainy. became enamored with the wealthy gangsters and merchants of smut and debauchery, wants to be one
- the place was raided and General Labak Craumerdaun pulled him aside and let him know that “crime don’t pay son” and some blathering about his future if he didn’t get on the straight and narrow, yada yada. pointed him in the direction of an Aurelian recruiter visiting town
- knowing there was no immediate future in Eshpurta, decided to try a stint in the Green and (as fighting was in the immediate plan) he thought to turn 3 years of
murderingpeacekeeping into a little estate he could farm by day and rent out at night to rich horse fuckers or a demon worshipping cult or wherever the money would come from - he’s an ambitious cunt but in truth, not too likeable or bright. realistically a born lackey
- lecherous, xenophobic, a tad racist
- the first member of the party that demonstrates a plan to wealth and power will have a loyal musclebound chum, although Kira Fe’lorin has a leg up on account of being an attractive female
- aspires to be the enforcer for a proper criminal enterprise, not the brains, obv. maybe a robber baron if all goes well.
- passably will pray to the Golden Lady but does intuitively understand it’s not the direct actions of the goddess Waukeen that make you rich, it’s more like the fraternity of her worshippers. it isn’t real faith, but it’s a true devotion of its kind
That to Which the other Party Members Will Be Privy
His stint in the green is about 2.5 years deep, and he didn’t (much to his displeasure) draw any combat before the recent campaign, so he’s not close to 3 years of fighting yet. He spent some time mucking stables for the cavalry and became rather good with animals. Very much a follower of orders, just not a lot of zeal for the cause. If the plan is to charge a hill, he plans to be the 3rd or 4th one up, so he doesn’t die but still gets his hands dirty. If the orders were to re-provision from a farm, he’d be in the vanguard beating up anyone resistant to the cause.
Everyone in the company knows that one town which wasn’t entirely against us turned sour when something went on with Bikke and a local gal, mayor’s niece or something. Had to kill a few local lads in a bit of a row. Handy with a sharp stick though, and always paying attention to the surroundings. Gained some notoriety on campaign in the woods when he detected a gnoll ambush in advance and was able to prevent loss of life for the ‘good’ guys. Killed a mess of goblins in one particularly nasty skirmish near the mountains. Had some interest in maps and while not having a head for strategy, did at least become passable at navigation. Definitely angling to be promoted with the passing of our dear captain, and his accounting of his own performance in the field is quite flattering. Loses most of his wages to taverns or dice players, because his fondness for gambling exceeds his skill and he’s too dumb to know when he’s being cheated. Uses a reliable short sword and probably couldn’t be trusted to care for anything of high quality.
He’s basically only useful when a fight starts, and knowing this, looks to start them.
Enter Armitage del Veign
Its clear that even though he wasn’t a member of Sling, he was invited because del Veign expected bloodshed, and Bikke was fairly close to Kira during their rotations in camp, after the averted ambush. It can be assumed del Veign sees either an opportunity for this group to earn great renown and likes them all, or he expects tragedy and is attempting to get rid of this lot for some reason. As Bikke has been a consummate ass-kisser to Armitage, he presumes the former.
His Relationships with the Party
- Barrick Ironstone is a little too stiff for Bikke’s taste but he admires his martial prowess, and is always glad to have him around in a fight. Other than his fierce loyalty to his “brother”, Bikke isn’t terribly sure what Barrick’s goals are. He thinks Barrick can be an imperious cunt that thinks everyone should take his orders, that’s probably his Thornfield blood shining through.
- Hugh Stoddard another gifted combatant with a true heart, clearly burning for some singular reason. Certainly willing to bear a grudge. Bikke doesn’t get the feeling Hugh is on a path leading to luxury and largess, though, he kinda has that vigilante loner for life vibe, with Barrick as his Hodor.
- Kira Fe’lorin is smoking hot, and not above a little murdering when someone needs it. All she has to do is bat her eyes and point, and Bikke will straight up kill just about anyone. It bugs Bikke that she too doesn’t really seem motivated by comfort and excess pleasures of the flesh, but he can tell she’s going places. He figures he can loot a little on the way.
- Gavin Pellemont is a snatch. He seems allergic to prosperity and Bikke cannot imagine him coming out on top of anything. Kira seems to have taken pity on him, and Bikke will admit he can be useful, but he could at least learn to play a guitar or something for fuck’s sake.
- Radovan Rytir is a newcomer, and Bikke hasn’t formed an opinion.
