Kira Fe'lorin
Kira Fe’lorin
Introduction
Kira was both a scout and medic during the war. She is skilled in creating potions from herbs she would gather while out scouting and prefers potions over healing magic. Potions took longer to work/make giving soldiers more time to rest.
Kira isn’t the best fighter. She’s very skilled at running away, but if she gets caught unaware, she isn’t likely to win. Bikke likes to remind her of the multiple times he’s had to save her.
Kira’s dislike of the major families stems from the belief that they overwork and exploit the people under them for their own profit. This results in the people working the land instead of working with it. Her current belief is if people want a chance at working in balance with the land, the major families must go. Balance is important to her. This world is finite, its resources finite. If life is left unchecked life will cease to exist.
Background
Kira spent 24 years as a ward of House Owens.
Early Years
Kira grew up in the Feywild. Early in her life, Kira followed some decaying vines into a cave. There she found a dying tree. She watched the tree rot, and just before it finished, she carved off the last remaining bit of living bark. The bark still lives, though Kira can sense that it pulses with darkness. As years have passed, Kira has noticed that the edges of the bark have very slowly begun to turn black. Kira attempted to reach out to the Unseelie court for information but was forced to run away. Through the bark Kira focuses her druidic power.
Ward of House Owens
Kira lived as a Ward of House Owens for 24 years before Taking the Green. This was for a promise that Kira’s uncle made with Lord Owens grandfather for saving his life. Every 49 years, Kira’s uncle will send a member of his family to act as a ward for House Owens.
She taught members of House Owens and the families of surrounding farms how to care for the land.
House Owens produced quality livestock for Aurelian.
Kira appreciated Lord Owens and his house but wanted to do more for the people of Aurelian and not just House Owens. Lord Owens thought it a bad idea and didn’t want to lose what help Kira could provide for his family.
She was horrified to see how the Major Families and other houses treated workers.
Kira hopes to ease the burden put on the workers. Whether that’s by eliminating the Major Families or making the land easier to work with.
Lord Owens Passing
When Lord Owens passed, his son Kevin took over. Kevin was more charismatic and made numerous deals with the various House Lords and garnered a lot of favor with the Major Families. He had hopes to elevate his position. Eventually he bit off more than he could chew and was killed. His sister Elaine took over.
Kira and Elaine weren’t fans of Kevin. Kira didn’t appreciate how overworked the farmers became after Lord Owens passed, Elaine thought her brother a moron for getting in bed with the Major Families. They convinced Kevin to take a deal he could not fulfill and that would lead to his death. The deal was made with [[Vance Thornfield |“Lord” Thornfield]].
Elaine let Kira Take the Green. It was a gift for helping Elaine take out Kira’s brother.
Taking the Green was a wake-up call. Kira was not a fighter and more than once she had to be saved. It didn’t help that a small skirmish turned into a full-blown war shortly after she enlisted. After the war started, Kira found herself working as a healer. While she knew magic, her preference was brewing up potions she gathered from being out on the field. Seeing someone die less than a day after she used magic to heal them left a scar. But as the war dragged on, Kira found that she made a very good scout.
With her ability to talk to animals, Kira would use local wildlife to scout out enemy troop locations and movements (or do the scouting herself). If necessary, Kira could relay messages back to her command using birds.
When the war ended, Kira was lost with what to do. She still had time left on her term, and Elaine still wasn’t expecting her. Thankfully Del Veign reached out.
The Del Veign Problem
Arrival at Port Maraisa
It’s painful working for these fools. There problems are petty, yet they trump them up to be of great import. Still, my contract requires me to continue working for them. At least I’m with people I trust, even if some of them can be annoying.
Del Veign wants us to find some noble brat. He spouted off way too many names, none of which are important enough for me to remember. The brat was apparently sent south, and Del Veign wants us to find out why. I’ll probably just kill the Moray kid and frame it as Del Veign attempting to assassinate a member of another house. That would look bad for him.
Our travels south was quick and we ran into an annoying fellow named Rowan. Useful, but annoying, which makes him tolerable. Plus he entertains the others. I don’t trust him. His appearance was… coincidental. But, I’ll tolerate him for now. At one point, I didn’t trust Bikke, Hugh, or Barrick either.
We stumbled on a caravan of halfings under attack by Orcs and Goblins. We were only able to save some halfing children, everyone else was killed. Bikke and I may have to go Orc hunting soon. Thankfully we calmed the kids down and they agreed to ride with us to Port Maraisa. They were apparently traveling that direction so they should hopefully have family there.
We were able to reach Port Maraisa and deliver the children to a group of halfings. This town is a powder keg waiting to explode. Too many people vying for power, none with the ability to snatch it. All the while, everyone suffers for it. We met a Mother Verduna, and she instructed us about some sick folk on the other side of the river (some place called the The Lazaretto). I’d like to go there and see if there’s anyway for me to help.

Prisoner Problems
The Merchant
Bikke agrees with me. The merchant needs to die before he can talk. I have some Mandrake in my bags. I should be able to slip it into his food. Maybe I should add some to everybodies just in case.
The slaver’s dead. I was hoping he’d suffer more, but I’ll have to settle for vomit and shit. It only cost Bikke getting mildly sick. Gavin’s obsession with Rowan was a great distraction and provided me the opportunity to add an extra few doses to the Slavers food and a the leftovers to Bikkes. I’m hoping to boost his immunity to poisons. The rest of the group felt queasy, but they were able to recover quickly enough. Falcone was useless as usual and insisted we take Bikke to the healer. I think he’s fine to travel (the healer even said he’s fine to travel), but I’m overruled. We head out to Bad Doric without Bikke. No use just sitting around.
Travel Companions
Bikke - What do I say about Bikke. He’s simple and useful, like a tool. I know I can trust him when things start to go south. Like this merchant we found. He agrees that he can’t be allowed to survive the return journey to Port Maraisa. Hopefully he can distract the others long enough for me to poison him.
Hugh Stoddard - I appreciate his thirst for vengeance. I’ll probably be unable to direct him as easily as Bikke, but I believe our goals to be similar.
Barrick - I don’t know what to think of him. He’s a skilled fighter, and will defend those around him. I’d wager he’s more reliable than Bikke, but that’s because he can think on his own.
Gavin - I always had trouble trusting Gavin, and I couldn’t put a finger on it until I met Rowan. His presence is too… convenient. He’s diplomatic, which is useful, but I don’t think he’ll be willing to do what needs to be done. At least he’s entertaining. He has a strange fascination with Rowan and getting him laid. Maybe he’d be able to assist Bikke.
NPCs
The Vintner - I hope to be the one that murders this man. Maybe I can get the… is it Little… Small… Men to help me. I’d prefer to have him be infected by the plague, but that would be a hard sell. Bikke is afraid of the plague.
Magistrato Falcone - Useless, milquetoast Mayor.
Isabel Verduna - Capable Healer. She tends to the sick willingly while the rest of the town abandons them. I wonder if she’d be willing to lend me some of her people to infect the local leadership.
